It is undeniable that the emergence of WeChat by Tencent is indeed a huge advancement in instant messaging software No, actually... everyone knows that some of WeChat's features are not original, but thanks to the birth of WeChat, familiar social interactions have entered our sight. Blah blah blah, I'm too lazy to continue.
Various groups#
In my opinion, WeChat is not an appropriate platform for distributing notifications for several reasons:
- Lack of member permission management
- Only one group notification can be accommodated at a time
- Messages cannot be synchronized across platforms
- Messages are not backed up in the cloud
- Message formatting is almost non-existent
Firstly, the severe lack of member permission management in groups means that it is not possible to mute members in WeChat groups.
Moreover, it is obvious that group members are a group that is prone to easily overlook mute commands.
As a result, the mute function, which is clearly displayed in the group name, is virtually non-existent, and notifications and flooding messages often cannot be conveniently seen.
Furthermore, group announcements in WeChat are hidden in the menu of WeChat group details, and the content displayed in the conversation area is only slightly different from other regular chat content with the addition of @all without clear distinction.
Not to mention that WeChat is proud of not saving chat records, so it is not possible to back up chat data in the cloud. Tencent should know whether or not they have saved them, which means that WeChat chat records are actually unreliable.
Various public accounts that require attention#
Speaking of public accounts that Communist Youth League members are required to follow, it actually feels quite excessive. From the initial Guangdong Communist Youth League to Guangdong Youth Voice and then to Guangdong Student Union, it's too troublesome to be a member of the league. While it can be understood to follow one public account for notification purposes, it is forcing people to follow three public accounts, which seems a bit excessive.
WeChat's closed ecosystem#
It is undeniable that WeChat's ecosystem is leading in the industry, but for someone like me who values freedom, WeChat's ecosystem is a form of closure from another perspective. From WeChat chat to leisure reading in public accounts to WeChat Pay, there is a sense of consistency in the experience. However, once traffic enters through WeChat's gateway, there is almost no way for it to re-enter the free internet. WeChat is like an island on the internet, seemingly connected to the rich content of the internet, but in reality, you are always trapped in WeChat's cage.
